Fort Wayne, Ind. — Canterbury School junior Sophia Miller has reached a milestone few volleyball players achieve, becoming the first player in Canterbury volleyball history to record 1,000 career assists. Miller reached the historic mark on August 15 against Fremont, adding another remarkable chapter to her career as a Cavalier. She currently sits at 1,043 career assists, continuing to extend the school record she established when she surpassed the previous career mark of 681 assists, held by Gabi Zambrano. As a setter, Miller has been at the center of Canterbury’s offense throughout her career, consistently creating opportunities for her teammates and helping set the tone for the Cavaliers on the court. Reaching 1,000 assists is a testament not only to her skill and consistency, but also to the countless hours of preparation, teamwork, and trust that have gone into her career. While the milestone belongs to Miller, she is quick to point to the teammates who have helped make the accomplishment possible. “While 1,000 assists is a big accomplishment for me, it really shows what we have been able to do as a team since our freshman season. Assists only happen if I have a good pass from my defense, and have hitters that can score off my set, so it is truly a team effort! We have grown so much together over the past couple years and I’m so excited to see how the rest of this season will go,” Miller said. For Canterbury volleyball, Miller’s achievement represents both an individual accomplishment and a reflection of the strength of the program and the teammates surrounding her. Her 1,000th assist is now part of the program’s history, and with the season still underway, Miller continues to add to a record that she has already pushed well beyond the previous standard. Congratulations to Sophia Miller on an incredible career milestone and on making Canterbury volleyball history!
