FORT WAYNE, IN - Canterbury School proudly continues its tradition of leadership excellence, with four student-athletes honored at the 2026 Beyond the Game Leadership Awards. Since the award’s inception in 2018, Canterbury has been represented each year — a testament to our commitment to developing leaders whose impact extends well beyond competition. Yesterday, we got to celebrate Caroline Hirschy, Ruby Greider, Noah Hayes, and Henry Collins, who were selected as Canterbury’s 2026 recipients. They were joined at the awards luncheon by last year’s honorees — Aran Padmalingam, Sam Bierbaum, Grace Chaille, and Alex Rahall — who returned to support this year’s group and reinforce the strong culture of leadership within our athletic community. The Beyond the Game Leadership Awards recognize two female and two male student-athletes from each school’s Junior class who exemplify outstanding leadership ability. Importantly, recipients are selected not for athletic performance, but for the positive influence they have on teammates, peers, and the broader community. Honorees embody WBA’s Core Character Values: Integrity, Knowledge, Discipline, Perseverance, Respect, and Initiative. This recognition reflects Canterbury’s holistic approach to athletics. Here, the playing field is an extension of the classroom — a place where students grow not only in skill, but in character. We strive to develop young people who lead with courage, act with integrity, and use their influence to elevate those around them — strengthening their teams, our school culture, and the communities they serve. As a school committed to forming the artist, athlete, and scholar, Canterbury celebrates students who pursue excellence in every dimension of their lives. Our continued representation at the Beyond the Game Leadership Awards affirms what we work to cultivate every day: leaders who understand that true success is measured not only by wins and statistics, but by character, service, and meaningful impact. At Canterbury, our students compete with excellence — and they lead beyond the game.
